Each Georgia mobile and manufactured home must be built according to the federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards: 24 CFR 3280. This is know as the Housing and Urban Development Code (HUD Code). The HUD Code numbers §3280.305(c)(1) and §3280.305(c)(2)require that all Georgia mobile homes (and those around the USA) shall be constructed to standard of one of three wind load zones. Wind zone design requirements are based on where the mobile/ manufactured home will be located. The higher the wind zone number the more wind pressure a mobile home can withstand. Mobile Homes with high wind zones can be placed in lower wind zone areas (example: a wind zone 3 mobile home in a Georgia wind zone 1 area). However, a Wind Zone I home cannot be installed in either a Wind Zone II or III area. A real life example of this would be tying to move a wind zone one mobile home from a zone one area like Augusta, GA to a wind zone 2 property in an area like Hinesville, GA.
